The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered 1,356 first information reports (FIRs) across the state since its inception in 2016 but it has succeeded only in four cases to get the guilty punished. While social activists say this is not a good record, ACB sleuths say the process is long and winding. The state government has spent Rs 119 crore towards salaries and other expenses for the ACB sleuths in five years and half of the amount (Rs 60.50 crore) has been spent on ACB staff in Bengaluru. According to a RTI document, ACB sleuths have registered 186 disproportionate assets (DA) cases and 957 bribery cases between 2016 and 2020 in other districts in the state while 213 FIRs were registered in Bengaluru.
